The Accra Reset: Reimagining Global Governance for Health and Development
On the sidelines of the 2025 UN General Assembly, Ghana’s President and African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, John Dramani Mahama, will lead a high-level side event to unveil the Accra Reset – a bold new framework to help re-imagine global governance architecture for global health and development for the post-SDG era.

President Mahama will formally announce a Global Presidential Council — comprising Heads of State and Government from Africa, Asia, Latin America and beyond. The Council will subsequently constitute a High-Level Advisory Panel, bringing together leaders from health, finance, innovation, and business. Together, these institutions will provide the political leadership and intellectual depth needed to pioneer new models for global cooperation. This event offers an opportunity to connect the dots between political commitment, institutional innovation, and operational instruments that will chart a path toward more resilient, equitable, and sustainable development systems worldwide.
